Starting 11 May, bus 57 will run more frequently and connect Ķīpsala with Torņakalns station
To improve public transport accessibility and frequency in Ķīpsala, ensure a more direct connection to the city’s rail network, and establish a new connection in Pārdaugava in the south–north direction, from 11 May, changes will be made to bus route 57. Going forward, the bus will run on the route "Ķīpsala – Torņakalna stacija" and will run more frequently during the day and in the evenings.
With these changes, the route will now extend to Torņakalns station, improving connections with train service and enhancing mobility in the so-called “Knowledge Mile” between the University of Latvia Campus and Riga Technical University.
Buses will also run more frequently. During peak hours on weekdays, the interval will be reduced to approximately 30 minutes (up to now it has been around 60 minutes). Also, at midday, the bus will run regularly approximately every 30 minutes (currently, no trips are made during the day). Similarly, bus 57 will run later in the evening. The last trip to Ķīpsala will be at 21.16 (currently it is at 19.46).
The schedule has been adjusted to meet passengers’ daily needs, for example, the morning trip from Torņakalns will allow passengers to arrive at Riga Technical University by 8.15.
The changes were developed in collaboration with residents of Ķīpsala. Following discussions, several improvements have been made to the route, such as selecting a route along the Raņķa and Balasta dambis, as well as establishing new stops that will improve access to public transport and transfer options.
